Dissing+Weitling, Arne Jacobsen, Petrol Station, front, VisitCopenhagen

As the 'heirs' of Arne Jacobsen, Dissing+Weitling have a special connection to and expertise in the master architect’s buildings, designs, and methods.

  • Dissing+Weitling has built an extensive portfolio of renovation and transformation projects related to Arne Jacobsen’s architecture.

In its early years, Dissing+Weitling completed several major projects initiated under Arne Jacobsen, including the Danish Embassy in London, the Town Hall in Mainz, the Burgtiefe Holiday Center on Fehmarn, and the National Bank of Denmark, where Otto Weitling took over work from Phase 2.

At the same time, Dissing+Weitling secured projects under their own name, remaining loyal to the architectural ideals they had shared with Arne Jacobsen.

The Danish Embassy in London was designed by Arne Jacobsen and completed by Dissing+Weitling.
  • Throughout the years, the firm has upheld a modernist approach in its designs, adapting to varying functional requirements, surroundings, and forms.

Regarding the National Bank of Denmark, the crown jewel of Jacobsen’s office buildings, Dissing+Weitling draw upon experience from working on another Jacobsen-Weitling office building, the Hamburgische Elektricitäts-Werke (HEW) in Hamburg.

  • Here today, Dissing+Weitling are involved in the renovation and future proofing of the building as advisors to the property owner. This office building, covering 48,600 m², was completed in 1969 as a direct predecessor to the National Bank. Consequently, the two buildings share many architectural solutions. Dissing+Weitling’s role in both is to ensure the continuation of Arne Jacobsen’s and Otto Weitling’s architectural vision.

Other architectural gems shaped by Arne Jacobsen, which Dissing+Weitling have continued to develop, include Glostrup Town Hall, grammer school Christianeum, Texaco Petrol Station and several buildings for Novo Nordisk.
