Shop, office and meeting rooms
Dissing+Weitling’s renovation of the anterior buildings at the Geological Museum, as well as two buildings in the Botanical Gardens, the shop and office, has secured relevance and functionality for many years to come.
The preservation-worthy buildings are all from the late 19th century, and they have been renovated with outset in proud traditions of craftsmanship.
All the windows have been inspected, repaired and painted, and some have new wood-core frames. New slates have been laid on the roof, and copper flashing has been installed on the two buildings in front of the Geological Museum, reproducing the original flashing from 1893.
The transformation has been completed using existing materials and the functional, present needs. Materials and surfaces have been used to create a smooth transition from room to room and improve the acoustics, indoor climate and energy consumption.
The renovation has not only enhanced the appearance of the buildings, it has also removed discomfort from leaks and drafts. The buildings are now fully honed and ready for both routine use and for special events.
