  • The classical building on Øster Farimagsgade was previously the municipal hospital, before becoming part of the University of Copenhagen, and among other things home to the Faculty of Social Sciences (also known as CSS).

As part of Dissing+Weitling’s multi-year framework agreement with the University of Copenhagen for architectural consultancy on its buildings in central Copenhagen, the entrance square has been transformed, but with full respect for the imposing old building.

The new square has been planned as a durable, open and inviting oasis for university users. The square adds a contemporary, campus-like atmosphere, buzzing with life from approximately 6,500 students, while also providing a facelift for the entire area between the old hospital, the botanical gardens and the upcoming new Natural History Museum.
