The new residential area, Degnejorden, is being developed in Lejre as a modern, social village community close to the bustling town. Back in 2016, Dissing+Weitling won an open competition for a masterplan for the new residential area on a green and lush 5-hectare site.
In collaboration with MOVE Arkitektur, we developed a proposal focusing on the community, nature and freedom – a modern village, driven by the residents, and offering a diverse and spacious environment with room for all ages and social groups.
A place that has close ties to the surrounding urban area and nature. The main concept of our overall plan is a green connection, which meanders from east to west, connecting groups of housing clusters in varying sizes. The green connection is a modern interpretation of the village pond - a floating green community space between the housing clusters.
The green connection will interconnect all infrastructure in the area and offer meeting places such as communal kitchen, laundry, community house, waste management, bicycle parking, etc. We also suggest an information workshop space to create life and temporary activities.
