Dissing+Weitling has won a major landscape project in Xiamen, China, marking our third project of its kind in the area. The new project will connect pedestrian bridges, architecture, and public spaces while enhancing the area's existing natural and architectural qualities.
The project introduces a network of carefully integrated structures that bring together pedestrian infrastructure, architecture, and landscape. By connecting existing buildings, green spaces, and urban routes, the design aims to improve accessibility and create a more cohesive public environment.
Rather than imposing new structures on the landscape, the design builds on the area's existing character. Bridges and architectural elements are carefully adapted to their surroundings, strengthening the relationship between the natural environment and the built city.
The project builds Dissing+Weitling's previous work in Xiamen, including the Xiamen Bicycle Skyway and Xiamen Mountains-to-Sea Trail, continuing our approach to infrastructure as an integrated part of the urban landscape.
