  • The Salvador-Itaparica cable-stayed bridge linking the city of Salvador to Itaparica Island in Bahia bay will be 12 kilometres-long, which makes it the the longest sea cable-stayed bridge in Latin America.

    Dissing+Weitling has work as architectual consultants on the prestigious bridge project together with engineer COWI.

  • The bridge consist of a spectacular main span with a height of 120 metres and a length of 550 metres. The large ground clearance is due to a request for sailing oil-drilling platforms under the bridge. Consequently, the pylons of the bridge will have a height of 285 metres which makes them among the highest pylons in the world.

    Dissing+Weitling has worked closely with the client to uncover regards to the local population and requirements from locale authorities. Our role in the startup has been to define a design for the bridge that in addition to being economically possible also gives the city of Salvador an iconic structure.
