Dissing+Weitling contributes to the new local community Nærheden with a new road and bicycle bridge, in addition to new housing.
The new cable-stayed bridge connects to Hedehusene and it has a distinctive design, with the potential of becoming a local landmark.
The bridge spans a total of 6 tracks at Denmark's busiest railway: Vestbanen.
The local authority, Høje-Taastrup Kommune, knew from the start that a bridge would be essential to meet the demands of the new suburb, and the new vehicle and pedestrian bridge allows for optimal traffic connections between Nærheden and the already existing municipality, Hedehusene.
Dissing+Weitling has designed the geometry and expression of the bridge to be elegant and sleek and was involved in both the idea phase and in detailed design.

Ud over at sikre en hensigtsmæssig belysning for broens trafikanter og fodgængere har belysningen til formål at oplyse konstruktionselementer og fremhæve den markante arkitektur.
